Chinese Police Try to Prevent CNN Report By Using Interactive Umbrellas

Interactive Umbrellas? You have to give it to this reporter for working hard to get his report out when the Chinese plain-clothes police were doing all they could to block his camera's view and his ability to speak to the camera. This guy has chutzpah! Click to see CNN video as I couldn't embed here. This is good TV and good "interactive TV" journalism. -- Tracy Swedlow

[itvt] at the Maker Faire in our conTENT Pavilion

Over the weekend, May 30-31st, [itvt] had a booth (albeit last minute) at the Maker Faire , a huge Do-It-Yourself (DIY) festival that welcomes thousands of hands-on technologists, creatives and business executives from Silicon Valley and San Francisco and their families to the San Mateo fair grounds. There, we met a lot of friends, colleagues, artists, new people and welcomed kids into our booth to discover what interactive TV is today and what it might...

Immersive TV: Google's Holodeck 360 Kiosk

Just heard about Google's new "holodeck " that showcases their mapping service in an immersive TV surround video kiosk. This definitely reminds me of that last scene in " Soylent Green " when Edward G. Robinson is surrounded by his favorite images and video before he is to die. It would be great if this kiosk presented the visitor with the ability to interact with the images to find his/her way or map out directions...

Over the Top TV - The Internet and Broadband TV in 1969!

This is an envisioning of the Internet in 1969, but it is also an envisioning of an interactive "over-the-top" TV system that supports all sorts of services and video applications. You won't believe it! -- Tracy Swedlow, editor, [itvt]

Star Wars Part 4 vs. New Star Trek Movie Comparison TV

This really will open your eyes if you are interested in Comparison TV. An excellent device, this compares the plot line of the original Star Wars movie with that of the new J.J. Abrams "Star Trek." Pretty similiar....Amazing. -- Tracy Swedlow

TV of Yesterday: First TV Remote RCA Wireless Wizard Does it All!

Thanks to Odd Todd (one of the funniest cartoonists out there) for pointing this out. This is RCA's first remote control and the infomercial to introduce it. We need a bit of that "glitter marketing" in the interactive TV industry -- take note people. Don't forget the expensive manicure. Favorite Quotes: "You can operate every control - all 7 functions!" "See all color shows in living color!" "On chair convenience! Luxurious styling."

TV of Tomorrow: "Death Star Destroys the Enterprise"

This video was produced by Mike Horn at Current and it's amazing. I don't necessarily like to see my beloved Enterprise singed into non-existence, but it really hurts here beautifully. The way he integrates live action with the special effects over San Francisco is awe-inspiring. You can really feel the size of those things. It's not interactive TV, but it's certainly The TV of Tomorrow. From now on, we'll highlight what we think is great...

Star Trek Obsessed: Seeing the Premiere of “Star Trek” May 7, 2009

I finally posted my comments about the new #startrek movie on my personal blog. Here's a blurb: The Movie and the Writing : The fact that they did it is a good thing. There’s nothing like being energized by the Star Trek universe. It made me feel like my life was so primitive and analogue when I re-entered my San Francisco home after the evening, but pleased that the franchise had been revived in an...

Grumbling About New Star Trek Movie - Am Cynical About It Until...

Talk about TV OF TOMORROW: Haven't seen it yet, but what I have seen of the new Star Trek movie looks like it has completely lost its soul. But...not sure. Will see on Thursday at 7:00 PM debut at the Metreon in SF. People who claim that they were never into Star Trek (see this all over Twitter), but now they might be into it because this film will be all action adventure and sex...
