--Losses Include Substantial Non-Cash Impairment Charges
VOD technology provider, Concurrent, on Tuesday released financial results for its fiscal third quarter, ended March 31st: --Revenues totaled $19.2 million, compared to $19.4 million for the year-ago quarter.
VOD technology provider, Concurrent, said Monday that Canada's second-largest MSO, Cogeco Cable, an existing Concurrent customer, has signed a master purchase agreement designating the company as the preferred provider of video technology for its VOD service in all its Canadian markets. According to Concurrent, the multi-year deal supports expansion of and upgrades to Cogeco's existing VOD platform, and makes it possible for the MSO to offer a range of new services to its 400,000 digital subscribers in Quebec and Ontario, including timeshifted TV, network DVR and advanced advertising. "Operators like Cogeco are increasingly under competitive pressure to add more personalized video services," Concurrent president and CEO, Dan Mondor, said in a prepared statement.

VOD technology provider, Concurrent, has appointed David King to the newly created position of chief marketing officer. He will be responsible for all aspects of the company's global corporate marketing strategy, strategic alliances and channel partnerships, and will report directly to its recently appointed president and CEO, Dan Mondor.
Adds Tiered Asset Management to its MediaHawk Video Servers
Concurrent says it has successfully integrated its Myriad line of advance advertising products with systems from BIAP, Invidi and This Technology, in order to develop advanced advertising solutions based on the SCTE-130 and EBIF standards. The four companies, which are currently working on solutions that enable such advanced advertising functionality as targeted VOD ad insertion, bumpering, telescoping and reporting, say that over the coming year they will collaborate on product interoperability and integration, and pursue joint marketing initiatives, including interoperability demonstrations at industry trade shows and summits.

- Q4 revenues from the company's VOD product line totaled $10.1 million, compared to $14 million for the year-ago quarter and $12.1 million for the preceding quarter.
- Q4 net losses totaled $1 million, or $0.12 per fully diluted share, compared to net losses of $712,000, or $0.01 per fully diluted share, for the year-ago quarter and net income of $301,000, or $0.04 per fully diluted share, for the preceding quarter.

VOD technology provider, Concurrent, says that Portugal's largest cable operator, ZON TV Cabo, has chosen its flagship MediaHawk Content Delivery System to power its expanded VOD service. The expanded service is scheduled to launch in Lisbon and Porto in the fourth quarter. "Concurrent's innovative technology, exemplified by the unique resilient streaming feature, was one of many reasons we chose Concurrent's MediaHawk 4500," Andre Almeida, ZON TV Cabo's head of product development, said in a prepared statement.

--Secures New VOD Deals with Time Warner Cable
VOD technology provider, Concurrent, has launched the Real Time
Pitcher 2000 (RTP2000), which it says uses resilient real-time content
distribution to ensure no loss of video captures due to network or
component failures, enabling content ingest success rates up to
99.999%. According to the company, this enhancement to its
time-shifted TV platform has generated significant interest among
cable operators--particularly Time Warner Cable and Bright House
Networks, which are using Concurrent equipment and software to
power Start Over services (note: Time Warner Cable recently launched
Start Over in Staten Island and plans to make the service available on
