--Will Use New Funding for Expansion in Asia Pacific Region
Live Internet broadcasting service provider, Ustream, announced late Monday that it has secured $75 million in a Series B funding round that was led by Softbank of Japan, and that additional funding commitments are pending from other investors in the US and Asia. The company says that the funding will help it continue its growth in the US, and allow it to expand its presence in the Asia Pacific region where it is hoping to pursue opportunities in Japan, China, Korea and India.

Live Internet broadcast service provider, Ustream, on Wednesday announced the availability of a Ustream Live Broadcaster iPhone app in the iTunes App Store (note: the company has previously launched versions of the app for Android and Nokia devices; earlier this year--see the article published on itvt.com, August 6th--it launched a free iPhone 3GS Recorder app, which allows users to syndicate recorded videos to Twitter, YouTube, Facebook, Ustream on Facebook and Ustream.tv, but which, because of restrictions that were still imposed at the time by Apple and AT&T, does n

Live Internet broadcast service provider, Ustream, contacted [itvt] Monday to let us know that rapper Snoop Dogg will be featured today (Tuesday afternoon, Pacific Time) in the second episode of a new, live, interactive reality series, entitled "Ustream All Access." The series, which is billed as giving online viewers a "live peek into the daily lives of celebrities," premiered December 1st with a live stream featuring Black Eyed Peas frontman, Will.i.am, backstage at the Grammy Awards nominations in Los Angeles. According to Ustream, it garnered over 250,000 viewers.

The Pentagon Channel (note: the channel, which is operated by the US Department of Defense, broadcasts military news and information for and about the 2.6 million members of the US Armed Forces) announced Monday that it is streaming its programming via live Internet broadcasting service, Ustream. A link to the new Ustream channel--which offers DOD news briefings, military news, interviews with DOD officials, short features on the work of the military, and "military lifestyle" programming--is featured on the newly relaunched Defense.gov Web site.

In a post on its corporate blog, Wednesday, live Internet broadcasting company, Ustream, announced two new offerings: the iPhone 3GS Recorder and the Media Stream.
The iPhone 3GS Recorder, which is available free-of-charge in the Apple App Store, allows users to syndicate recorded videos to Twitter, YouTube, Facebook, Ustream on Facebook and Ustream.tv. Because of restrictions imposed by Apple and AT&T, it does not allow syndication of live video. The app also allows users to manage videos that they have previously posted to Ustream.tv.
