President and CEO, Rob Jacobson, Leaves VOD Content Company, iN DEMAND
--Will Be Replaced on Interim Basis by Senior Time Warner Cable Interactive TV Exec, Bob Benya
Rob Jacobson, who has served as president and CEO of cable industry-owned VOD content-aggregator, iN DEMAND (note: the company's shareholders are Comcast, Cox, and Time Warner Cable-Advance/Newhouse) since 2004, has left the company, following the expiration of his contract. He will be replaced on an interim basis by Bob Benya, SVP of video product strategy at Time Warner Cable, and iN DEMAND says that the search for a permanent replacement will "commence immediately."
An internal memo on Benya's appointment from Time Warner Cable chief strategy officer, Peter Stern, was obtained by US cable-industry trade publication, Multichannel News: "Bob is the ideal person to lead iN DEMAND at this critical juncture," the memo read. "He is on the board of iN DEMAND and has been instrumental in guiding TWC's On Demand, Interactive TV and Enhanced TV initiatives. In addition, during his more than 28 years in cable and new media, he has held senior sales, marketing, programming and operations management positions. While serving in this interim role, he will continue to be our SVP of video product strategy one day a week, with assistance from his team and our colleagues. The graciousness with which Bob agreed to take on this role is indicative of his positive attitude and exemplary leadership. Please join me in congratulating him on this assignment and wishing him the absolute best."
