Verizon FiOS TV Once Again Upgrades its Recently Launched Twitter Widget

--Widget Now Allows Viewers to Follow their Friends' Tweets

In a posting on a company blog, Tuesday, Verizon's SVP of media relations, Eric Rabe, announced that the company has once again revamped the Twitter interactive TV widget that it launched on its FiOS TV platform just last month (note: at launch, the widget was billed as allowing FiOS TV customers to follow tweets related specifically to the program they were watching; select from a list of top Twitter topics, so that they could view tweets on those topics; search for specific tweets; and create and save a favorite topics list; however, it did not allow them to send tweets about the show they were watching directly from the TV--a feature that was added via an upgrade earlier this month: see the article published on itvt.com, August 3rd).

According to Rabe, the widget now allows viewers to follow their friends' tweets: "You can now follow your friends' tweets on the big screen," Rabe wrote. "Using the onscreen keyboard, customers type in their friends' Twitter username or email address and pull up their tweets. Roll out begins today; all FiOS TV customers will have this new feature by the end of the week."
