In a post on its corporate blog, Wednesday, live Internet broadcasting company, Ustream, announced the launch of a partner program that it says will allow its service's content providers to share revenues generated by advertising associated with their content. The program sees Ustream integrating Google's new Video API, enabling it, it says, to serve Google in-video ads and to use Google's backend for analytics and payments.
According to Ustream, the program will provide participants with "unique" monetization tools, including the ability to run on-demand mid-roll commercials in their streams: certain content providers, such as radio shows or conferences, will be able to run mid-rolls during natural breaks in their program, the company says.
Participants currently enrolled in the program include Fox News Radio, Soulja Boy, Chris Pirillo and Shane Dawson. According to Ustream, the amount each participant will earn will depend on the size of their audience for both live and recorded content. The program will have various eligibility requirements, the company says, including audience size, country of residence, quality of content and consistency with Ustream's community guidelines and terms of service
