Broadband video platform provider, Ooyala, last week announced the release of live streaming with real-time analytics for its flagship Backlot platform. According to the company, the new functionality enables its customers to quickly and easily set up a live stream from the same console from which they manage their VOD content, while the company's analytics engine provides real-time viewership statistics from its analytics dashboards.
In addition, the company says, the new live streaming offering supports advanced syndication controls, player branding, video search, adaptive bitrate technology and monetization; and is already being used by a number of its customers, including Electronic Arts, the AVP, Arsenal (the English soccer club), Speedbox.tv and Planet Streams. "Live video is one of the fastest growing segments on the Web," Ooyala president and CEO, Jay Fulcher, said in a prepared statement. "Companies are using live video to increase brand affinity and revenue. By offering native support of live streaming in Backlot, Ooyala has created the most comprehensive, full-featured and easiest to use video platform on the market." Added Speedbox.tv CEO, Norton Isaac: "With Ooyala's live video streaming solution, we're able to create and deliver live streams of our sporting events to tens of thousands of people all around the world. The time from set-up to streaming is minutes, as opposed to hours with competing solutions. The advanced analytics also help us drive our strategic partnership decisions because we can see exactly where in the world our content is being consumed."
