ActiveVideo Signs Up Trailer Park as First Major Content Developer for its CloudTV Platform

Cloud-based interactive TV specialist, ActiveVideo Networks, and entertainment marketing agency, Trailer Park, announced last week that Trailer Park's recently formed Trailer Park Advanced Content (TPAC) group has become the first major content developer to officially embrace ActiveVideo's flagship CloudTV platform, which the company says is currently available in nearly 5 million homes (note: ActiveVideo's customers include Cablevision and Time Warner Cable), and which it says it expects to be in 10 million homes by the end of the year. Trailer Park bills itself as developing a range of content and services for the entertainment industry, including trailers, TV spots, print campaigns, Web sites, widgets, mobile applications, BD-Live and Mobile-Blu services, featurettes, EPK's and social marketing tools. Its customer base includes major broadcasters, studios, cable channels, gaming platforms and others.

According to the companies, Trailer Park will leverage the CloudTV platform and its own creative capabilities to deliver interactive entertainment to CloudTV-enabled interactive TV viewers, including viewers on digital cable platforms and connected TV sets. "The demand for cutting-edge TV interactivity has grown dramatically among audiences and entertainment providers recently, but there hasn't been one single platform for easy development and distribution of applications," Trailer Park CEO, Rick Eiserman, said in a prepared statement. "ActiveVideo's CloudTV represents a dynamic new offering that will simplify Trailer Park's ability to develop and provide compelling, interactive content and unique consumer experiences for every existing--and upcoming--delivery platform." Added Curt Doty, EVP of TPAC: "The beauty of CloudTV is that cool immersive content can be developed in days or weeks--instead of months -- and can be delivered uniformly and instantly to the mass TV audiences. ActiveVideo's early penetration and success within this space provides a unique new 'playground' for cutting-edge developers like Trailer Park, as we continue to conceive and build new apps for incorporation across multiple platforms." And added Michael Taylor, ActiveVideo's SVP of business development: "Trailer Park's wizardry is invaluable in helping us to jump-start our portfolio of compelling programming and applications for our cable and consumer electronic partners. We look forward to working with Trailer Park and other content providers to develop new content that maximizes all of the capabilities of CloudTV."

ActiveVideo--which at CES earlier this month announced a new deal with Blockbuster (see the article published on itvt.com, January 7th), and an expansion of its relationship with interactive TV games provider, TAG Networks, to include games on CE devices as well as cable set-top boxes (see the article published on itvt.com, January 11th)--bills its platform as enabling viewers to "navigate a completely interactive environment of both linear and broadband programming, including rich interfaces and graphics optimized for TV and remote control navigation; social networking; personal media; niche content; and targeted, actionable advertising," and as using "intelligent MPEG streaming to deliver the Web 2.0 experience to a worldwide television audience through both legacy and next-generation digital set-top boxes and broadband-connected devices." (Note: For more on ActiveVideo's and TAG Networks' deployments on US cable platforms, see the interview with ActiveVideo president and CEO, Jeff Miller, that was published on itvt.com, October 30th.)
