Broadband video platform provider, Ooyala, on Wednesday announced the launch of its Video Search Engine Optimization SDK. Using Ooyala's video publishing tools, the company says, the SDK allows developers to expose video metadata to search engines in order to improve search engine rankings.
According to the company, developers can use the new SDK with its Advanced Metadata Management solution to create pages with video that Google and other search engines can index easily. "Many companies live and die based on their search engine rankings, but since Flash content can be difficult for search engines to ingest, video pages are often not search-engine friendly," Mark Robertson, founder of ReelSEO.com, said in a prepared statement included with Ooyala's press materials announcing the new Video SEO SDK (note: Ooyala is teaming with ReelSEO.com and Truveo on a Webinar on implementing video SEO on Web sites, today at 11:00AM Pacific). "With the new Video SEO SDK, Ooyala is giving control to developers and publishers to create video landing pages, rich with textual metadata, which can have a greater chance of being indexed and ranked for relevant search queries."
