Verizon FiOS TV to Offer EBIF-Based HD Interactive TV App During Showtime Boxing Telecast

--Second Outing for "Showtime Sports Interactive," which Debuted in February During MMA Telecast

Verizon FiOS TV said Wednesday that it will offer "Showtime Sports Interactive"--which it bills as "the first nationwide, high-definition interactive television application using the Enhanced TV Binary Interchange Format" (EBIF)--this Saturday (April 24th, 9:00PM Eastern/Pacific), to accompany Showtime's broadcast of the "Super Six World Boxing Classic," which will see WBA super middleweight champion, Carl Froch, fight against former champion, Mikkel Kessler. This will be the second outing for the app: in February (see the article published on itvt.com, March 19th), it was offered in conjunction with Showtime's coverage of the "Strikeforce Challengers" mixed martial arts event.

The app allows viewers to use their remote controls to pull up fighter statistics, records, bios and quotes; take part in interactive polls; test their knowledge in a trivia game; and view a fight calendar.
