--Says It Can Develop a Branded Channel for a Publisher within Two Weeks
Dyyno, a company that specializes in enabling businesses to launch custom video portals, last week announced the launch of a "live TV portal" service on the Roku OTT platform. According to the company, the Dyyno Live TV Portal on Roku, as the new offering is called, provides a turnkey solution for businesses to bring their live, VOD and linear-TV channels to the living room. It bills the launch as meaning that owners and distributors can use its platform not only to create and manage high-quality video content, but to distribute it to all three screens natively: i.e. to HDTV's equipped with Roku devices, as well as to computers and smartphones.
According to Dyyno, there are two ways in which content owners can use its service to bring their videos and other media to Roku:
- "Branded Channel": Dyyno says that it will develop a dedicated channel on Roku for a content publisher within two weeks. According to the company--which plans to charge a one-time fee for development of the channel and a monthly fee for streaming, based on usage--this branded channel will allow the publisher to distribute its live and on-demand video in full HD quality.
- "Dyyno Portal": the company bills this option--which is targeted at small businesses and independent content owners--as the fastest way to get content onto Roku. Content owners can create their own channel under the Dyyno Roku portal within minutes, the company says, and distribute it from there. Dyyno plans to charge a usage-based monthly fee for the service.
According to Dyyno, Dyyno Live TV Portal on Roku supports video quality from SD through 1080p, is easy to use and scales seamlessly. Users can add it to their Roku home screen by clicking on the Dyyno icon in the Roku Channel Store. "With Dyyno's turnkey solution on Roku, content owners and publishers can go from creating content to distributing it to a million family rooms, all within a day," Dyyno president and CEO, Raj Jaswa, said in a prepared statement. "Videos show best when watched on the largest screen available and at the highest quality possible. Dyyno's streaming solution on Roku offers HD-quality live streaming while leveraging Roku's intuitive user interface." Added Jim Funk, Roku's VP of business development: "We want to give our customers a wide variety of viewing options from a wide variety of sources. Dyyno's comprehensive and turnkey live streaming platform greatly simplifies the process of bringing content to Roku's customers." A demo video of Dyyno Live TV Portal on Roku can be seen here.
