Virgin Media to Offer ESPN Classic on Demand

UK cable operator, Virgin Media, said Friday that it is adding content from ESPN's ESPN Classic channel to its TV Choice VOD service, starting February 14th.

According to the company, ESPN Classic on Demand, as the channel's VOD service is called, will offer Virgin customers around 20 hours of classic sports content, including "some of the most memorable moments and matches from football, rugby and cricket, as well as nail-biting Wimbledon finals and a variety of award-winning documentaries--including the ground-breaking ESPN '30 For 30' film series." The service's content will be refreshed on a monthly basis, the company says. Customers of Virgin's XL TV package will also be able to access a selection of ESPN Classic programming via the company's Online Player. "Sports fans continue to utilize technologies to bring sport into their lives at the times, and in the places, that they want," Murray Barnett, VP of sports channels and syndication at Disney-ABC-ESPN Television EMEA, said in a prepared statement. "We're thrilled to work with a great partner like Virgin Media to continue to find ways to deliver ESPN's great content to them whenever and wherever we can."
