VOD Distributor iN Demand Promotes Emilio Nunez to SVP of Movies and Original Programming
Cable industry-backed VOD programming distributor, iN Demand, said Friday that it has promoted Emilio Nunez to SVP of movies and original programming. Based in the company's New York headquarters, he will report to EVP of programming and general counsel, Michael Berman.
In his new role, iN Demand says, Nunez will oversee content acquisition, strategic planning and scheduling for the company's Movies On Demand service. He will be responsible for negotiating VOD programming deals with major studios and independent suppliers, and for developing new windowing models and new avenues for digital distribution. He will also be tasked with managing content acquisition and scheduling for the company's Vutopia subscription VOD (SVOD) service, as well as for the development of original programming for transactional and free-on-demand platforms, including stereoscopic 3D content. In addition, he will oversee shock jock Howard Stern's SVOD channel, Howard TV On Demand. "Emilio is widely respected among our studio colleagues," iN Demand's Berman said in a prepared statement. "Over the last several years, he added numerous responsibilities and has now become an instrumental part of our movie team. As our content deals become more far-reaching and complex, it is imperative that we have someone with Emilio's deep understanding of the business and great relationships on both the original programming as well as the acquisition side."
Nunez was previously VP of movies and original programming. He joined iN Demand back in November, 2005 to run programming development and production for its HDTV channel, MOJOHD. Prior to that, he spent six years at A&E, rising to the position of director of drama and music programming. His resume also includes stints working in feature film development at Polygram Films and Interscope Communications. He holds a BA in film and video and Spanish from Middlebury College.
