  • Bergen, Norway-based Vimond Media Solutions contacted [itvt] Monday to let us know that it has added support for connected TV's to its online video platform. "Vimond's multiscreen over-the-top (OTT) service platform already supports mobile devices, tablets, set-top boxes, and computers, and the addition of support for connected TV's means service providers can reach yet another viewing platform from the same infrastructure," the company states in its press materials. "OTT service providers can now operate more efficiently and reduce costs by publishing the same service on many networks and formats simultaneously, without needing parallel set-ups and vendors. As the connected-TV market develops, the Vimond platform allows users to adapt quickly to support new connected-TV models when they are introduced by manufacturers...A broadcaster or operator with an existing OTT service powered by the Vimond platform will be able to adapt the same to a new connected-TV interface and deliver directly to television screens over the Web...The advanced Vimond platform provides a comprehensive environment for managing and delivering multiformat OTT services, with full facilities for all creative, logistical, and business aspects of the operation. • wireWAX, a UK company that allows users to add motion-tracking, clickable hotspots to their videos, has been tapped by entertainment label, Play It Again Sam (PIAS), to power an interactive multimedia "sampler site" (http://www.tameranimals.com) for the band Other Lives' new album, "Tamer Animals." "Based around the band’s 'For 12' official video, the site offers Soundcloud clips, YouTube videos and even Instagram photos tagged with #otherlives, all seamlessly appearing as stylized, clickable 'tags' within the video itself," wireWAX states in its press materials. Said PIAS' head of digital marketing, Darren Hemmings: "wireWAX is a great platform that allows artists to extend the capabilities of video to include all kinds of interactive elements, which in turn builds greater engagement." Added wireWAX CEO, Steve Callanan: "From the moment PIAS discovered wireWAX, we knew they'd do something special--they've surpassed that expectation. Using wireWAX's latest button applications, they've brought the social world around Other Lives right into this awesome video. A truly immersive experience and we're delighted to have PIAS as partners in #taggablevideo."
