Bottle Rocket Names Scott Maddux General Manager of its New AWE Division
--Company's AWE Platform Powers Apps for Showtime, Discovery, and the WWE
The company positions AWE as "the first mobile app platform created to enable content owners, advertisers and publishers to rapidly deliver premium TV Everywhere, social-TV and companion-content experiences to their customers" (note: more information on the platform is available here). The platform powers Showtime Networks' Showtime Sync app, as well as apps for Discovery HD and the WWE.
Maddux was most recently SVP and Interim CEO of Nielsen joint-venture, Media-Sync, where he worked on developing a second-screen mobile publishing platform. The platform's initial launch with partners, ABC and Lexus, garnered it an Emmy nomination for excellence in interactive media. Maddux's resume also includes stints at Apple, Hasbro, IDEO and Nielsen.
(Note: Maddux moderated the panel session, "Content and Rights at the Center of the Second-Screen Experience: Who Owns What?" at the TV of Tomorrow Show in San Francisco last June. A video of the session can be viewed here.)
