About me

In 2008 I co-founded Jinni and set out with my team to build the world's first semantic discovery engine for video guides. As a veteran of the TV middleware industry I had been involved time and again in attempts to build a 'new and improved' TV guide - but every attempted ending in another version of the same old grid-based guide. I couldn't accept that the EPG was impossible to improve, and soon realized that all these grid guides were built using the same generic metadata and this was the barrier that must be broken through. Armed with the understanding that "The guide is only as good as the underlying data", I sought out top cinema experts, computer scientists and mathematicians to explore how the underlying data driving video guides could be completely re-engineered. The result is the Entertainment Genome and semantic taste-and-mood based discovery solution. I continue to be fascinated with the developments, and sometimes lack of developments, in the digital video market. Recently I collected my observations and insights into a book entitled, "Super Search Me!" Prior to founding Jinni, I served as VP Marketing and Business Development of Orca Interactive, a developer of IPTV middleware for telcos and ISPs. At Orca, I was responsible for the company's product vision and roadmap, marketing strategy, marketing communications and business development with global companies such as Lucent, Nortel, HP, IBM, Accenture, NDS and SeaChange. Previously, I was with Oracle for six years, most recently as director of technical services, where I worked with major Israeli software vendors, including Amdocs and Comverse. He started his career with Accenture as an application developer for ERP systems. I earned a B.Sc. in Information Systems from the Technion, Israel Institute of Technology. When it comes to TV and movies, Yosi I am the "Idealist" type and enjoy watching suspenseful stories about injustice with twists and turns, bleak anti-war stories about military life and uplifting, witty stories about the human spirit. I invite you to explore you own Entertainment Personality and enjoy discovering content that perfectly suits your taste and mood at http://www.jinni.com
