Announcing TVOT Story Lab

[itvt] is pleased to announce TVOT Story Lab, a 3-hour workshop on multiplatform storytelling and storyworld development, created by Evette Vargas, CEO of Digital-Reign Productions, and Maya Zuckerman, founder of Transmedia SF.
 
TVOT Story Lab will take place 1:00-4:00PM, June 22nd (i.e. the day before TVOT 2015 kicks off) at the Golden Gate Club in the Presidio of San Francisco. Then, this workshop is for you. Over the course of three hours, the workshop will provide concrete strategies, case studies and paradigm-shifting insights that will help you produce your multiplatform story and technology property--from concept to distribution.

Overview: TVOT Story Lab will draw on real-world examples to examine how to plan, develop and produce multiplatform storytelling and technology. It will be divided into 3 parts:
 
Part 1: 
 
Storyworld Planning: idea, longline, tagline, synopsis, main characters, character bios, bible, user journey/entry touchpoints into storyworld, story milestones, the "why, how, what" of the storyline. 
 
Storyworld Development: identify best platforms for idea, create storyworld and characters; write character arcs; mine the hook of the idea for all platforms to inspire storylines, technologies, merchandising, etc.; devise experi¬ences per platform (UI, UX, social, live, AR, Oculus, interactivity, etc.) 
 
 
Part 2: 
 
Strategic Planning: project management, team management, tools, marketing, audience analysis, UX, audience engagement plan (social media), funding and business models (monetization channels), platforms, tech, apps, etc. 
 
 
Part 3: 
 
Pre-Production: multiplatform production planning (phased planning); roll-out plan for unfolding and growing the franchise; success indicators, monetization + audience; build teams for produc¬tion (each platform has a dedicated team); have all your multichannel contracts at hand (cast & crew for multiple content use). 
 
Production: Best approach for your projects; leveraging all of your digital assets (planning for multiple uses of the content); how to produce multiplatform media.
 
About Evette Vargas

With a repertoire spanning TV, digital, film, mobile, games, comics and music, Evette Vargas is emblematic of Hollywood's new breed of multimedia talent. Described by the New York Times as an "Artist to Watch," Evette is an award-winning filmmaker and co-founder of Digital-Reign, a multiplatform media production company. At Digital-Reign, Evette oversees development of original content for digital, TV, film, mobile, games, comics and interactive media. Her writing, directing and interactive work includes: mobile apps and games for FAST AND FURIOUS, SHERLOCK HOLMES, LORD OF THE RINGS trilogy, Nissan & Honda; multiplatform content for Madonna.com, Wu-Tang Clan, Snoop Dog, Interscrope/Geffen/A&M and Looney Tunes, serialized interactive content for AFI and the Grammys.

More recently, Evette show-runs and directs her sci-fi action thriller digital series, DARK PROPHET, which airs on LaunchTV channel and stars Henry Rollins and Chase Fein. The show was in contention for two Emmys in the interactive category, premiered at Sundance 2014 and won an NBC/UNI Production Award. The Virtual Reality comic series, game app and album are in the works. Evette is developing projects with Viacom and Canadian production company, SQRLZ. Evette is a member of the WGA, PGA and the Television Academy Of Arts & Sciences.

About Maya Zuckerman
 
Maya is a transmedia producer and emerging technology aficionado who applies the power of transmedia to world-changing ideas. She brings a wealth of experience from different media silos: visual effects, film, production, gaming, startups, product management and brand narrative. She has worked with big feature films and on game cinematics such as "Ghostbusters" and “Star-Trek online” for companies such as Ubisoft, EA, Vivendi and Activision. She has also worked in product development for companies such as the Chopra Center, Harpo Productions and Salesforce.com.
 
Current projects include:
  • Transmedia SF - An agency and a meetup group exploring where storytelling meets technology in San Francisco. She is the co-founder of the agency and the transmedia producer for their first interactive documentary - Madame Mars - woman and the quest for other worlds.
  • Keyframe-Entertainment - where she is creating a thriving media and business ecosystem for the whole Transformational culture.
  • Dark Prophet - A sci-fi franchise telling the story of a math genius and DJ who finds hidden messages in music.
  • Lucidity Six Year Mythos project - as a Transmedia Producer
