VR Company, StoryTech Immersive, Teams with Premier Exhibitions on Expedition to the Wreck of the Titanic

  • Partnership Will See the Companies Recording Wreck Site in VR and Producing VR Documentary

StoryTech Immersive, the virtual reality storytelling company behind PBS Digital Studios' high-profile American Civil War-themed VR film, "My Brother's Keeper," today announced that it has signed a letter of intent with Premier Exhibitions-subsidiary, RMS Titanic, to partner on an expedition to the wreck of the Titanic.

The companies are currently developing a dive plan for the 2018 expedition, which they say will include the filming of the wreck site in VR, with the goal of "virtually preserving [it] in its present condition for posterity." They will also collaborate on the production of a VR documentary film for distribution on multiple platforms. The documentary--which the companies promise will be "the most immersive, story-driven, cinematic experience ever created about the ship, her passengers and their fate"--will be co-written and co-directed by Connor Hair and Alex Meader of Perception2, who were also part of the team responsible for "My Brother's Keeper." StoryTech and RMS Titanic say that they are already in conversations with a number of media companies that have expressed interested in joining them as content and distribution partners.

Brian Seth Hurst is also the 2017 winner of [itvt]'s Leadership Award for ITV All Star

"There are few stories in the annals of history that capture the hearts and minds of people around the world like Titanic and our mission is to use technology to bring the untold stories to life in a way that has never been done before," StoryTech Immersive Founder and Chief Storyteller, Brian Seth Hurst, said in a prepared statement. "We are honored and privileged that RMS Titanic, Inc. intends to work with us on this expedition and we are committed to upholding its exemplary standards in the respectful treatment of this precious site."
