Sky+ Remote Record Now Available for iPhone, iPod Touch

UK satellite-TV provider, BSkyB, announced Tuesday that its Sky+ Remote Record application is now available on the Apple App Store. The app, which is offered free-of-charge, allows iPhone or iPod Touch users with a Sky+ or Sky+HD DVR to schedule recordings remotely. It provides those users with access to Sky's seven-day EPG, where they can browse listings by time, day or program name, and then select programs to record. Once a recording request has been sent to the user's DVR, a confirmation message appears on their iPhone.

Remote Record also works with Sky's recently launched online reminder service, Never Miss, which the company says continually scans TV listings and allows customers to request email notifications when their favorite movies are about to be scheduled on TV. The notifications also contain a link that allows customers to remotely schedule recordings on their DVR. Sky says that customers can currently use Never Miss to set reminders for around 30,000 films and 80 TV series (500 seasons).
