Unicorn Media Launches Transcoding and RSS-Feed-Creation Solution for Syndicating Videos to TiVo

--Launch Follows TiVo's Announcement Last Week that it Is Opening Up its Platform to Video Podcasters

As [itvt] reported last week (see article published on itvt.com, August 6th), TiVo recently announced that it is making available "hundreds" of free broadband videos to broadband-connected TiVo Series3, TiVo HD and TiVo HD XL subscribers via new "podcast channels," and also announced that it is now possible for any video podcast provider to publish video content to TiVo DVR's using industry-standard Really Simple Syndication (RSS) and H.264 video (note: TiVo users can access video podcasts published in this way and not listed on the TiVo menu by entering the URL for the podcast they want to watch within the "Video On Demand" menu on their DVR). On Wednesday, a Tempe, Arizona-based company called Unicorn Media announced that it is now offering a transcoding and RSS-feed-creation solution for syndication of 720p HD videos optimized for TiVo delivery, as part of its "Media-as-a-Service" solution.

According to Unicorn Media, its TiVo transcoding solution allows customers to automate the custom feed creation process simply and seamlessly. The company says that it is part of a comprehensive suite of services that allows customers to upload, manage, syndicate, analyze and monetize media content to any Internet-connected device. "Unicorn Media's visual tools make our dynamic syndication service simple enough for any user to create custom-content syndication API's, compatible with thousands of existing systems--in just minutes," Unicorn Media CTO, AJ McGowan, said in a prepared statement. "Our powerful workflow manager combined with our versatile transcoding services allow us to add support for new partners on the fly, serving as the hub for all of their digital experiences, regardless of what device or site the user is engaging at the time. The quality of the experience we're able to deliver using TiVo was the primary reason we chose TiVo support as the first example of our dynamic syndication service." Added Unicorn's SVP and general manager of platform services, Sean Gilliam: "This is yet another example of how our Media-as-a-Service solution enables Unicorn Media's customers to connect to any IP-enabled device without the complexity of managing multiple systems or services. Our ability to address the ever-changing dynamics of the online media publishing space allows our customers to focus on their core competency: creating compelling content."
