Gravitas Bolsters VOD Line-Up via New Deals with Indie Film Companies

Digital content aggregator, Gravitas Ventures, said Tuesday that it has expanded its line-up of VOD movies via partnerships with independent film companies, Empire Film Group, Imagination Worldwide, Johnson Production Group, Liberation Entertainment, Submarine Entertainment, The Film Sales Company, Traction Media, Well Go USA and Zeitgeist Films. It says that the partnerships--which are non-exclusive, allowing the indie filmmakers to continue to pursue theatrical distribution if they wish--will enable it to offer over 250 VOD films per year in 2009 and 2010. "The caliber of films from our new partners enhances our mission to garner attention to talented filmmakers and bring their high-quality content to audiences through video-on-demand distribution," Gravitas founder and CEO, Nolan Gallagher, said in a prepared statement. "Working with so many industry leaders will enable us to deliver more than 250 programs to the VOD marketplace in both 2009 and 2010 and allow film lovers across North America an increased selection of theatrically released films and audience approved movies straight from their film festival premieres."

Gravitas claims that its films have the potential to reach over 50 million North American homes and hotel rooms via cable, IPTV and broadband VOD platforms, through its relationships with Warner Bros. Digital Distribution, AT&T U-Verse, Apple iTunes, Amazon VOD, Charter Communications, Comcast, Cox Communications, Rogers Cable, Time Warner Cable, and Verizon FiOS TV.
