News Corp.-Owned Selects Brightcove to Power Broadband Video Initiatives

Broadband video publishing solutions provider, Brightcove, announced Wednesday that Italian pay-TV operator, (Sky Italia), has selected its platform for online video content management and for publishing advertising-supported, customized video players on its online properties and across the Web. According to Brightcove--whose other Italian customers include MTV Mobile and Il Sole 24--its platform is enabling, which has just under 5 million subscribers, to extend distribution of sports, news and lifestyle-related programming to the Web, reaching a larger audience and expanding monetization opportunities through enhanced advertising opportunities., which is a wholly owned subsidiary of News Corp., is the latest in a number of News Corp. companies to select Brightcove's broadband video platform: the others are Sky Deutschland, Times Newspapers, BSkyB, and Fox Entertainment Group.

Brightcove says that its platform provides with a comprehensive and advanced feature set for publishing and distributing high-quality broadband video content. The company claims that the platform will allow the pay-TV operator to increase viewer engagement with its video content and rapidly expand its online audience in Italy via the platform's third-party distribution and advanced sharing features and analytics capabilities. It also says the platform enables to create highly customized viewing experiences, including Serie A soccer league highlights that are updated frequently through weekly broadband video features. In addition, it claims, the platform's ease of integration with leading advertising networks and servers has allowed to expand its monetization strategy with online video advertising opportunities.
