Coincident TV Teams with Ascent Media's Blink Digital to Develop Interactive Video Experiences

--Coincident Bills its Tech as Enabling Social Media, Web Links, Commerce, All Within the Video Player

At the NAB show in Las Vegas, Tuesday, Coincident TV (CTV)--the San Francisco-based start-up which earlier this week launched its flagship "hypervideo" software suite (note: the company bills the platform as combining online video, social media, Web links and commerce into a single immersive experience--see the article published on, April 13th; the platform is currently powering a Facebook-integrated, interactive "social trailer" for Fox's primetime musical series, "Glee"--see the article published on, April 6th)--announced that it has formed a technology collaboration with digital media production studio, Blink Digital, a subsidiary of Ascent Media Group. "The collaboration between CTV and Blink Digital is a natural symbiosis," CTV co-founder and CEO, David Kaiser, said in a prepared statement (note: Kaiser's resume includes stints as CEO of the pioneering interactive TV company, respondTV, and as the founding VP of engineering at Macromedia; other companies that he and/or CTV co-founder, Bruce Schwartz, have worked at include Adobe, Apple, Endemol, Viacom and Openwave). "The combination of technologies, media industry knowledge and resources will enable a full-service offering that is unmatched."

According to CTV, its "unique" cue point language (CPL)-driven software technology offers a foundation for Blink Digital to incorporate advanced design, development and delivery service capabilities when creating multifaceted video experiences, such as virtual DVD's and "superfan" Web destinations. It will also allow measurement of audience responses to those experiences, the company says. CTV and Blink Digital say that their initial projects and proofs of concept are currently being developed and will be released later this spring. "A key part of Ascent Media's strategy is to improve the quality of online video experiences," Ralf Jacob, Blink Digital's VP of operations, said in a prepared statement. "We believe that joining forces with CTV will give us the advanced tools necessary to create and deliver next-generation interactive video content."
