Launches iPhone App Showcasing its "Next-Generation" Programming Recommendations Tech

--Users of the Free App Will Also Gain Access to's Private Beta of its New Online Service, a Milan-based provider of programming recommendations technology for TV, Web and mobile, has announced the availability of a free iPhone app in the Apple iTunes App Store. According to the company, the new app enables users to receive personalized recommendations for content ranging from real-time broadcast programming to online and mobile TV shows and movies. It generates content recommendations using a proprietary technology that says analyzes and matches individual tastes and preferences.

According to, the new app provides what the company calls an "exclusive preview" of its next-generation technology. That technology also drives a new, direct-to-consumer online recommendations service that launched in private beta last month (see the article published on, May 5th). says that consumers who download the new iPhone app will also have access to the new online site, which is otherwise unavailable to the general public. "Now more than ever, TV and movie fans can be directed to the content that they want to see, when they want to see it and on their platform of choice--TV, Web, mobile--without having to channel surf," CTO, Yaniv Solnik, said in a prepared statement. "Our app is the first in the mobile space to provide personalized TV and movie recommendations that extend cross-platform. We've had an excellent response to the online closed beta and ran out of beta codes almost immediately. Currently, there is a waiting list." Added chairman, Rodolfo Hecht: "With the app, you don't search for content, the content finds you. We are excited to offer consumers this mobile-first experience of on their iPhone and we look forward to opening up the site to the general public soon."

According to, users of the new iPhone app will be able to:

  • Receive personalized recommendations for broadcast TV and online and mobile TV programming;
  • Discover new TV shows and movies they can watch on their iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad, as well as on TV and the Web;
  • Discover TV shows and movies from Apple iTunes and other storefronts;
  • View customizable TV listings;
  • Request shows similar to the ones they like;
  • Create their own watch lists;
  • Request TV reminders with "smart alerts";
  • Rate, comment on and share recommendations with friends.
