Eurocinema Launches on Comcast's VOD Platform

Eurocinema On Demand, a cable, satellite and broadband VOD movie channel devoted to international films, last week announce that it is launching its service on Comcast's On Demand platform. According to Eurocinema--which is owned by EuroMedia Holdings and which has previously launched its VOD service on Time Warner Cable, Charter, Cablevision, RCN, Verizon, DISH Network and DirecTV--the Comcast launch means that its service will reach a combined total of over 31 million North American households. The service is currently available to Comcast customers in Philadelphia and Washington, DC, and is slated to roll out to additional Comcast markets throughout the coming year.

According to Eurocinema, its VOD service will provide Comcast customers with up to 15 movie titles from Western and Eastern Europe at any time (a line-up that the company bills as "a carefully programmed selection of quality international theatrical films and award-winning short films and titles including contemporary films and classics, award winners direct from the festival circuit and works of acclaimed directors and globally-recognized actors"), and will add four or five new titles each month. Movies available to Comcast customers at launch include "Secret Journey" (Italy), "The Sandman" (Spain), "The Lark Farm" (Italy), "Fat, Stupid Rabbit" (Russia) and "Love Me" (Spain). Each title is accompanied by a short film. Eurocinema On Demand is available under Comcast On Demand's "Movies" and "Indies/Foreign" categories.
