ADB Teams with Top Up TV to Offer Sky Sports 1 and 2, ESPN on its i-CAN Easy HD DVB-T2 Set-Top

--Box also Supports BBC iPlayer

Geneva-based set-top box/digital TV technology provider, Advanced Digital Broadcast (ADB), on Monday announced a deal with Top Up TV, a company that operates a pay-TV service that supplements the UK's free-to-air digital terrestrial service, Freeview. According to the company, the deal will allow users of its i-CAN Easy HD DVB-T2 set-top box (note: i-CAN is a retail brand of ADB) to access Premier League soccer and other sports coverage through Sky Sports 1 and 2 and ESPN.

ADB--which points out that the i-CAN Easy HD already allows customers to access 50 SD Freeview channels, Freeview HD, and the BBC iPlayer--says that the deal with Top Up TV makes the box the only DVB-T2 set-top on the market that enables customers to access premium sports channels from Sky and ESPN. Top Up TV-enabled i-CAN Easy HD set-top boxes are slated to go on sale in various retail outlets in the UK within the next couple of weeks. "We have been delighted by the way our first UK product has been received," Karl Tempest-Mitchell, ADB's head of sales for the EMEA region, said in a prepared statement. "Our agreement with Top Up TV will further enhance the viewing experience we provide to UK consumers. We are proud to be the only company currently offering TV viewers in the UK the combination of Freeview HD and SD channels, iPlayer catch-up HD content from the BBC and premium sports, movies and entertainment channels from Top Up TV."
