mms Powering SMS-Driven Interactive TV for Univision

Interactive mobile marketing company, mobile messaging solutions (mms), said Tuesday that it has been working with Univision Interactive Media, the digital division of Spanish-language broadcaster, Univision (which claims to be the largest Spanish-language media company in the US), to power a range of premium mobile-based interactive TV services--including voting, sweepstakes, polling and trivia--for such high-profile shows as "Sabado Gigante," "Despierta America," and "Escandalo TV." The company says that it will continue to work with Univision to expand in-show mobile interactivity on these and other top Univision programs.

According to mms, Univision selected it to power mobile interactivity on its shows because its "high-performance" platform and processing capability would allow the broadcaster to accurately and efficiently process the high volume of premium SMS votes and other messages that it expected this season. The company says that it will continue to provide end-to-end fulfillment of mobile processing for mobile voting across key Univision shows, as well as provide support for premium mobile sweepstakes, polling and trivia programs. "We are thrilled and honored to work with Univision," mms's recently appointed (see the article published on, June 2nd) US CEO, Kai Buehler, said in a prepared statement. "Interacting with TV shows has become a favorite pastime for television viewers, and mms is delighted to offer fans of 'Sabado Gigante' and Univision's other popular shows a unique way to get involved with the show. mms is looking forward to contributing to Univision's continued success." Added Kevin Conroy, president of Univision Interactive Media: "Our shows have some of the most highly engaged viewer audiences. We are excited to offer our loyal television fans an enhanced interactive experience and the ability to engage with our programming in new ways, including these mobile integrations. mms' experience at handling high-volume ITV voting programs and their technical demands makes them a great partner as we continue to expand our mobile in-show programs."
