Due to the huge volume of interactive TV-related news generated over the past few days by the IBC, we are covering stories in this issue in round-up format. We anticipate that it will take a couple of days for us to catch up with all the recent news: so if your company has sent us a press release or briefed us on an announcement, and you don't yet see your news covered in this issue, please bear with us. Our regular news coverage will return shortly.

  • UK-based digital TV software specialist, ANT, has announced that its ANT Galio platform now supports the BBC iPlayer. "By supporting Web-based video services on any traditional mainstream TV device, the ANT Galio platform delivers a seamless user experience which enables consumers to access on-demand content as an integral part of their main TV experience without the need to move to a PC," ANT states in its press materials. "The ANT Galio platform provides device manufacturers targeting the large mainstream UK TV market with a platform that they can trust to deliver an exceptional consumer experience." ANT has also announced that ANT Galio will support portal services from Germany's NetRange MMH. "This exciting new collaboration meets an increasing consumer drive for more content variety," the company states in its press materials. "In a competitive retail market, connected-TV and set-top box (STB) manufacturers are constantly striving to add value and differentiate their products. Through ANT's work with MMH, licensees of the ANT Galio platform will benefit from access to a broad portfolio of TV services and applications in combination with a full service portal solution including UI design, portal architecture, backend solution, hosting and portal operations."
  • The BBC has announced the line-up of content that will be available through its red-button interactive TV service through September 24th.
  • Advanced advertising specialist, BlackArrow, has announced that it is teaming with NDS to preview a DVR ad-substitution solution at the IBC (1.A71). This is the companies' first joint showcase since announcing a strategic alliance earlier this year. "At the NDS booth, BlackArrow will showcase various scenarios that demonstrate how advertisements inserted locally on DVR's can be used to help advertisers create targeted campaigns," the companies state in their press materials. "The demonstration will show how operators and programmers can utilize the BlackArrow Advanced Advertising System to manage advertising sales, targeting and decisioning, and NDS Dynamic to target, deliver, seamlessly insert and measure advertisements--for both linear and on-demand DVR-based addressable advertising. The DVR ad-substitution demonstration complements BlackArrow's dynamic video-on-demand advertising sales and decisioning solutions, which currently are in deployment with major US cable system operators and programmers."
