Verizon FiOS TV Adds CNN and CNN Headline News to its "TV Everywhere" Line-Up

In a posting on its corporate blog, Tuesday, Verizon FiOS TV announced that it has expanded its "TV Everywhere" offering by making CNN's main US channel and Headline News (HLN) companion channel available live online to authenticated subscribers. (Note: the "TV Everywhere" distribution model--which was originally championed by Time Warner's chairman and CEO, Jeff Bewkes--seeks, via authentication technology, to make programming that pay-TV customers have already paid for through their cable, satellite or IPTV subscriptions available to those customers on multiple Web sites and platforms, and thus aims to head off the threat posed to pay-TV services by the increasing availability of over-the-top programming).

CNN can be accessed online by FiOS TV customers during the day, while HLN can be accessed in the evening and overnight. In order to access the channels--which are available both at http://www.verizon.com/fiostvonline and at http://www.cnn.com/tveverywhere--customers must subscribe to both FiOS TV and FiOS Internet--though they can use any broadband connection in the US. They authenticate themselves by entering their Verizon Online user name and password.

Other recent TV Everywhere additions from Verizon FiOS TV include Cinemax's Max Go service, truTV, Cartoon Network and Adult Swim.
