mDialog to Bring its Real-Time In-Stream Video Advertising Solution to Roku OTT Platform

mDialog, a company best known for providing an in-stream advertising solution for iOS devices (i.e. iPad, iPhone and iPod touch), said Wednesday that it is extending its platform to the OTT market via support for the Roku platform. According to the company, its real-time in-stream video ad solution can deliver ad pods so "seamlessly" to the Roku player that they are "indistinguishable from a traditional linear commercial break that viewers are accustomed to watching on TV." The company--which says that its platform will also support advertising on on-demand content on Roku--says that broadcasters and other video publishers that are currently using the platform to monetize their videos on iOS devices can now do the same on Roku without making any changes to their ad ops workflow. "We're very excited to extend our in-stream ad platform to the leading OTT device," mDialog founder, Greg Philpott, said in a prepared statement. "When Roku rolled out support for HTTP Live Streaming (HLS), we moved quickly to bring our HLS-based solution for in-stream ad delivery to their platform. Because mDialog is tuned for HLS, we can now offer publishers looking to reach the Roku audience with VOD and live streaming a powerful yet easy-to-use in-stream ad solution."

According to mDialog, the ability to stream live video to the Roku player with ad support will be particularly of interest to sports and music publishers. In addition, the company says, ad agencies looking to reach and engage a "uniquely addressable audience in their living room" now have an advanced, analytic solution that provides the kind of detailed audience reporting needed to make real-time ad delivery decisions. "As more and more publishers are making their long-form video content available on the Roku player, they want the ability to monetize their programming via real-time ad insertion," Roku's VP of business development, Jim Funk, said in a prepared statement. "The mDialog in-stream ad platform offers publishers a way to do that, and by using the HLS technology mDialog provides a seamless viewing experience."
