Dish Targets Netflix with HBO Deal

Dish Network struck deal with HBO that the DBS company boasts will allow it to offer original series and movies not available to Netflix customers.

Under the agreement, Dish customers can access content from the HBO Go and Max Go sites or through DishOnline.com. The deal could help Dish compete against several pay TV providers that already offer subscribers access to online videos from HBO and Cinemax, including Comcast, DirecTV, Verizon's FiOS TV, and AT&T's U-verse TV.

In addition to "True Blood," "Entourage," "Boardwalk Empire" and other original series, Dish subscribers will get access to 1,800 movies, including "Avatar," "The Hangover," and Up In The Air." More
