Time Warner Cable Adds 14 Channels to iPad Lineup

Time Warner Cable added the live feeds from 14 channels to the programming lineup available to subscribers with Apple's iPad, but the MSO is still missing several networks from Viacom, Fox Cable Networks Group and Discovery Communications

While its 73-channel lineup features some niche channels from Fox and Discovery, the MSO doesn't offer the most popular networks from the cable programmers, including FX, Fox News Channel and Discovery Channel

Fox and Discovery are allowing Time Warner to carry Fox Business Network, HD Theater, Investigation Discovery, Military Channel, Nat Geo Wild, Oprah Winfrey's OWN, Planet Green, and Science Channel. It also added Turner Broadcasting's Cartoon Network and TCM, along with TV Guide, Lifetime West and EWTN Global Catholic Network.

After Viacom filed a lawsuit seeking to block Time Warner from distributing its channels on the iPad, the MSO pulled MTV and several other Viacom channels from the channel lineup for the tablet.

Time Warner also plans to update the app this summer, adding the ability for subscribers to sort their favorite channels, director of digital communications Jeff Simmermon wrote in a blog post.
