CBS Interactive Books Multiplatform 'Live On Letterman' Concerts

-- Vevo Distribution Deal Delivers Concerts to iPhone, iPad

CBS Interactive Music Group is expanding its "Live On Letterman" concert series, signing several major artists to perform extended sets after their appearances on its late-night talk show.

Upcoming concerts include a May 11 performance from Ray LaMontagne and the Pariah Dogs, who will stick around after appearing on the "Late Show with David Letterman" to jam for online viewers. In addition to streaming the concert on CBS.com, it will be available live and on demand through CBS Interactive's TV.com, ETonline.com and CBS Television Stations Web sites.

CBS also offers the "Live On Letterman" concert series, which will feature a performance from Tinie Tempah on May 17, through distribution partner Vevo.com. Its deal with Vevo lets CBS make the concert series available to several mobile devices, including Apple's iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad.

CBS said it will also carry a concert from Ben Harper on May 18, and Beady Eye on June 22. Previous "Live on Letterman" concerts have featured Tim McGraw, John Mayer, Mary J. Blige, Katy Perry, Gorillaz and Bon Jovi.

CBS has had mixed success with its investments in multiplatform content. In 2006, it launched innertube, a free, ad-supported Web site featuring several original series, but it pulled the plug on the site a year later.

In April 2007, the network launched the CBS Interactive Audience Network, using Akamai's content delivery network to deliver programming through several new content partners, including AOL, Microsoft, CNET, Comcast, Joost, Bebo, Brightcove, Netvibes, Sling Media and Veoh
