Clearleap Shops iPad Solution to Pay TV Providers

-- itaas Builds App Based on Clearleap Platform

Clearleap is looking to boost revenue from pay TV providers that want to develop iPad applications, taking the wraps off of a cloud-based solution that can enable the delivery of IP video to tablets and other connected devices.

The Atlanta-based firm said its Stream On Demand product is designed to allow application developers to focus on the user experience, while Clearleap would manage billing, subscriber authentication, security, parental controls for apps for the iPad and other mobile devices.

Clearleap said interactive video application developer itaas has already developed an application based on its platform for navigating and viewing streaming video on the iPad and other mobile devices. The companies plan hawk their cable TV apps through demos at The Cable Show convention later this month in Chicago.

While major pay TV providers such as Cablevision, Comcast, DirecTV, Dish NetworkTime Warner Cable and Verizon have already developed apps for the iPad and smartphones, Clearleap's solution could work for small and mid-sized providers. More
