Harmonic Unveils Universal edgeQAM Solution that Delivers up to 648 QAM's in a Two-Rack Unit

Video delivery technology provider, Harmonic , on Tuesday launched the NSG HectoQAM (NSG 9000-40G), which it bills as the first universal edgeQAM solution to deliver up to 648 QAM's per two-rack-unit chassis (compared to the 144 delivered by the company's existing line of edgeQAM's). Harmonic said Tuesday that it has now shipped over a million edgeQAM's to cable service providers worldwide. Harmonic said Tuesday that Chinese cable operator, Shenzhen Topway Video Communication , has expanded its HDTV and VOD services using Harmonic headend and edgeQAM solutions. According to the company, the deployment of its technologies has allowed Shenzhen Topway to offer new HD VOD services; expanded on-demand capabilities, including time-shifted TV; and 13 new HDTV linear channels.
