TVOT MONTREAL 2026: Signal vs. Noise: AI, Short-Form Video, and the Battle for Content Discovery and Engagement

Wednesday, May 20th, 2026

3:55pm - 4:25pm

Orange Room

In an environment flooded with content, the real challenge isn’t access—it’s discovery. In this session, Warner Bros. Discovery’s Director of Global Research, Brian Laverty, joins Holly Leff-Pressman, Chief Client Engagement Officer at ScreenEngine/ASI, to unpack the evolving dynamics between short-form video, user-generated content (UGC) and AI in shaping what audiences watch—and why.

Drawing on new research, the conversation will explore how major content releases spark waves of UGC, how authentic engagement compares to paid promotion, and the role short-form clips play in influencing the content-decision journey. The session will also examine the growing role of AI—from discovery engines to decision support—and how it stacks up against (and increasingly integrates with) social platforms.

The takeaway is a clearer understanding of how content breaks through, how engagement translates into viewership, and how discovery is being reshaped in real time.
