It’s no secret that The Good Doctor is a supporter of local broadcast television. To that end, The Friday Fireside welcomes Kevin Colligan, CEO and President at LocalPublic.TV, the new organization that just might SAVE public television in the US. With a background at MLB Advanced Media, and a long stint with Cascade PBS (Seattle), Kevin is embarking on his most challenging and powerful endeavor: bringing over 300 INDEPENDENT (emphasis on “independent”) local PBS stations into a productive and sustainable HYBRID of broadcast and digital delivery; all the time paying meticulous attention to viewer membership, discrete and tasteful sponsorship, the needs of local stakeholders and the cost of content. It’s a challenging task, and one that we will continue to watch.
