Televisionation: Inscape’s Jodie McAfee on ACR and Audience Data

May 20, 2020

ITVT is pleased to present another episode of “Televisionation,” our new video/audio podcast exploring the advanced/interactive-TV industry in the Coronavirus/Covid-19 Era. This episode features Jodie McAfee, SVP of Sales and Marketing at Inscape Data Services, a subsidiary of TV manufacturer, VIZIO, that specializes in using automatic content recognition (ACR) technology to generate audience data. Among other things, he explains how Inscape’s data is being used to enable new forms of measurement, attribution and cross-channel targeting; argues that many media companies and agencies are reliant on old approaches to audience measurement and data that have been severely weakened by the Covid-19 pandemic; discusses new trends in viewing that Inscape has been seeing; and updates us on the company’s work on Project OAR, an industry consortium that aims to standardize addressable advertising. (Note: If you would like to share your thoughts on how the Coronavirus/Covid-19 crisis will change the TV and advertising industries, and tell us what your company—or you yourself—are doing to prepare for this new reality, please contact us at tracyswedlow@gmail.com.)
