Along with our regular business coverage and interviews, I’m excited to get to know more about the people in the TV community by learning what they’re passionate about beyond their work in the industry! My first guest on TELEVISIONATION: The Swedlow Show “What’s Your Passion?” is Simon Applebaum, the well-respected host of Tomorrow Will Be Televised, which covers the latest news, content, and developments in the TV world.

In a conversation with me, Tracy Swedlow, CEO and Editor-in-Chief of ITVT and Co-producer of The TV of Tomorrow Show (TVOT) conferences, Simon shares his long-standing passion for BALLROOM DANCING! I have heard about it for a long time from him, but only intermittently. I decided I wanted to know more so I interviewed him about it. 

We discuss how ballroom dancing is portrayed in television and film, particularly through shows like Dancing with the Stars, an adaptation of the British format Strictly Come Dancing and why it seems so popular to viewers as a genre. Simon also highlights the charm of live performances, charismatic hosts, and judges that add to the appeal of the artform and why he enjoys it as a Master of Ceremonies and in other roles around New York City where he resides. He reflects on his own experience with very diverse community in NYC that loves ballroom dancing and the passion for what they do, as well as its natural social and fitness benefits.
