ITVT/TVOT is pleased to present a new episode of “Televisionation,” our video/audio podcast exploring the advanced/interactive-TV industry in the Coronavirus/Covid-19 Era and beyond. This episode features Howard Blumenthal, who among other things created and produced the famous PBS children’s show, “Where in the World Is Carmen Sandiego.” Blumenthal, who is currently a Senior Scholar at the University of Pennsylvania, discusses his work at QUBE, the legendary interactive TV service launched in Columbus, Ohio by Warner Cable in 1977, as well as his work on “Carmen Sandiego,” on MTV’s “Remote Control” and on other seminal shows. He also tells us about his father, Norm Blumenthal, who produced the famous NBC game show, “Concentration,” and was involved in the 1950’s proto-interactive TV show, “Winky Dink and You.” And he shares his thoughts on how to create and produce programming that’s relevant and valuable to 21st century children.
